Applicable Statutes
Landlord's duties: landlord must comply with applicable housing codes, maintain structural components, maintain running water and reasonable amounts of hot water, and keep electrical, plumbing, and heating systems in good working order.
Mont. Code Ann. § 70-24-406
Tenant remedies: if landlord fails to repair after 14 days written notice, tenant may repair and deduct up to one month's rent or terminate the rental agreement.
