Information We Don't Collect
Tenant Protections Guide does not collect anything about your housing situation, your personal circumstances or your wizard answers, and we never ask for your name, address or email (unless you choose to write to us through the contact form). The one thing we do measure is how the site is used, through Google Analytics, described below.
How Our Wizard Works
Our issue identification wizard runs entirely in your web browser. Your answers are carried in the part of the page address after the "#" sign. Browsers don't send that part to our servers, and Google Analytics is set up to report only which page was viewed, never the rest of the address, so your answers and anything you type reach neither us nor Google. To show your state's laws, the results page loads your state's page on your topic from our site, so our web host sees that page being requested, just as if you had opened it yourself. One thing to know: because your answers are in the address, they are also in your browser history, and anyone you share a results link with can see them. Nothing is saved anywhere else, so bookmarking the results page is the way to come back to it later.
Contact Form
If you choose to use our contact form, the information you submit (name, email address, message category, and message content) is transmitted to our email service for the sole purpose of responding to your inquiry. We do not store this information in a database, use it for marketing, or share it with third parties. Your contact form submission is treated as private correspondence.
Analytics & Advertising
We use analytics to understand general site usage patterns and may display advertisements to support our free educational content. These third-party services may use cookies as described below.
Google Analytics
Collects usage data including page visits, time on site, and general geographic region. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We never send it your wizard answers, your name or your contact details. It sets two cookies, described under Cookies below.
Google AdSense
We may display advertisements through Google AdSense to support this free resource. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on browsing activity. For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), Google AdSense handles GDPR consent requirements directly through its own consent mechanism.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this site: _ga, which Google uses to tell one visitor from another, and _ga_ followed by our Analytics ID, which keeps track of a single visit. Google sets both to last up to two years, and browsers such as Chrome and Safari shorten that if you don't come back. Neither contains your wizard answers or your name. If ads are shown, Google AdSense may set its own cookies to choose which ads you see. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works the same without them.

Your Privacy Rights
We don't hold personal information about you ourselves, so there is nothing on our side to provide, correct, or delete. Usage data from Google Analytics is held by Google and is not tied to your name. If you have privacy concerns about our website, please contact us.
California Residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. We do not sell personal information. Apart from the usage data Google Analytics collects (and, if ads are shown, the data Google AdSense uses), no personal information is collected on this site, and we hold none ourselves to disclose, delete, or correct.
Do Not Track Signals
Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. Your wizard answers are never sent to us or to third parties, whatever the setting. Third-party services (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) may respond to DNT signals according to their own policies.
Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
