Applicable Statutes

Mich. Comp. Laws § 600.2918

Unlawful interference with possession: person who unlawfully locks out a tenant, removes their property, or shuts off utilities to force a tenant to vacate is liable for actual damages or three months' rent, whichever is greater, plus attorney fees.
